We decided to spend the day exploring Manele Bay’s sister resort and Lanai city. Manele Bay has a free shuttle that goes to it’s sister resort the Lodge at Koele. Basically if you stay at either resort, you can use the facilities at both. Manele Bay is an oceanside resort whereas Koele is in the [...]

A new island

Today we set off to start the next half of our trip on the tiny island of Lanai. We flew from Kona to Maui and then to Lanai. Lanai is really small and has 2 resorts, one hotel, one B&B, and a population of about 3000. We quickly realized how small it was when [...]

More Volcanoes

Today we decided to take our biggest adventure and make the three hour trek to the southernmost point in the USA and, Kilauea, the only currently active volcano in the Hawaiian islands. We went to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and drove along a road full of craters from different eruptions over the years and even [...]

Enough relaxing, time for some adventure!

This morning we checked out of the Fairmont and headed to a small bed and breakfast named Hale Hualalai in the hills above Kona (another part of the island). After checking in with Lonn at the B&B we rushed off to catch a tour to the top of Mauna Kea. It’s the tallest mountain in [...]

Another relaxing day

We started off the day with another great breakfast and then spent the rest of the day enjoying our last day at the Fairmont. We snuck onto the chaise lounges usually reserved for spa treatments that look over the ocean and enjoyed doing absolutely nothing. Then when we got tired of that we moved on [...]

Errands and relaxing

We started the day with an Hawaiian breakfast. Amy had banana macadamia nut waffles with coconut syrup. YUM! After breakfast we decided that we should get all the work and errands done that we had left to do, so we could enjoy the rest of the trip. In the morning Amy finshed some work she [...]

We’re off

We’re off to Hawaii for our honeymoon today! The wedding was a success, and now it’s time to relax. We left Austin at 6:00pm and got into Honolulu around midnight. We’re flying through LAX on our way. Before we left we ran into Linn, Allie, Mike, and Tom at the airport and almost missed our [...]

Relaxing at the lake

We spent the weekend relaxing at the lake in Maine with friends from high school. The weather was perfect on Friday and Saturday, hovering just below 80. Sunday was overcast and colder, but that was a nice break from the Texas heat.
